Quarto Oggiaro in Milan and San Pablo Xalpa in Mexico City are two contexts distant in space, yet close with respect to certain conditions. Both marked by the presence of mobility infrastructure that conditions their accessibility and relations with the surrounding area; both composed of a significant share of public housing; both marked by the presence of low-income populations and a high percentage of young people exposed to severe phenomena of school dropout and educational poverty; both involved in public space and housing reorganization initiatives, thanks to the presence of networks of locally active actors.
The workshop concerns the initiation of a path of exploration, confrontation and design of new common spaces, with a strong involvement of mixed groups of young people (university students, residents) led by experienced teachers and operators, through forms of learning and peer-to-peer experiences.
