The IFe Research Lab tests a hybrid co-design methodology with associations and residents through a first in-person focus group as part of the “Space and Change in the Districts of Municipio 9” journey, involving representatives from 12 neighbourhoods in the north-west area of Milan.

The meeting marks a central step in the co-design process led by IFe Civic Lab, a territorial laboratory active in Milan’s north-west, involving associations, residents, and researchers from Cities in Action for Learning Lab at DAStU. The Space and Change journey aims to activate dialogue and in-depth reflection, starting with civic engagement through collective mapping and individual contributions focused on local urban spaces and contemporary urban challenges.
The initiative addresses the transformation of urban spaces through a hybrid methodology combining mapping activities, online dialogues, and in-person co-design sessions. It also experiments with deliberative tools and technologies developed within the ORBIS project, an initiative funded by the Horizon Europe programme, in collaboration with the local municipal administration.

This event offers a valuable opportunity to discuss and deepen public space regeneration proposals for the districts of Municipality 9, building on the work of students from the Urban Planning Laboratory (AUIC School, Politecnico di Milano, coordinated by Professors A. Moro and A. Frigerio).

IFe Research Lab Pilot Project is an action-research program on co-design methods and dialogue between active local stakeholders and institutions, supported by the Competence Center on Anti-Fragile Territories (CRAFT) at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies, Politecnico di Milano.
